Organic Certification requires that every step in the process of growing, moving, processing and packaging coffee must be certified organic. If not, roasters may not use the term Organic Certified, or Certified Organic. Kaffe Magnum Opus has competed every step in the process of certification and is waiting to be certified. This means for example, that organic green coffee must be separated from other fertilized product. All containers used in the roasting process must be separated, and the roaster must be purged for 15 minutes before placing organic coffee to be roasted. The trucks must certify that no chemicals have been transported with the coffee, and preferably that the truck has not been used to transport chemicals. So just growing organically is not enough. The roaster must be certain that there is no chemical cross over in all processes. This means that the plant is clean, well run and tuned in to customer demands. |
